The IC’s work on mixed reality education was featured in an article by CWRU CIO Sue Workman that appeared in Educause. The article focuses on how the technology and the ability to interact with 3D holograms—while also seeing instructors and classmates—provided extraordinary learning opportunities to advance the study of anatomy. The Microsoft HoloLens allows wearers to see and hear each other and see their “real” environment as they simultaneously interact with a digital anatomy model together as a group—just like they experience in a traditional lab setting.
