The IC is accepting applications for the next IC Fellows Cohort. If you are interested in using the Microsoft HoloLens in your classroom or have an idea for integrating mixed reality (MR) or 3-D digital content into your course, the IC Fellows Cohort program will guide, inspire, and help you create customized applications and give you the teaching tools you need for a successful transition to teaching in 3-D.
The cohort will meet weekly throughout the year (September through June). During these 60-minute in-person sessions we will cover a range of topics pertaining to creating and teaching in 3-D, including:
- What is mixed reality (MR) within the broader field of extended reality (XR), and what makes a great class in 3-D
- How and why to incorporate specific pedagogical tools into 3-D lesson planning, such as measurable learning objectives, journey mapping, and storyboarding
- The basics of the art and development processes
- Extensive HoloLens demos of all the CWRU MR applications, such as the HoloAnatomy® Software Suite, Dr. Elizabeth Bolman’s Red Monastery, and all the apps from Cohort 2022
By the end of the Fellowship, we hope to launch your new application to be used in the academic year 2023-2024. The program is free, open to all CWRU instructors, and spaces are limited. Applications are due August 31st and the program will begin in mid-September. To learn more and to apply, please visit interactivecommons.org/teaching-with-holograms
